San Diego Tasting Competition 2012

September 10 & 11, 2012

Our 6th Annual Spirits of Mexico Tasting Competition takes place on September 10 and 11. Internationally recognized industry experts, in a blind tasting, will select which brands will be awarded the coveted 2012 Spirits of Mexico Medals. Please note that this is not a public event.

Brands are judged on five essential characteristics: appearance, aromatics, flavor, mouthfeel and finish. Each of these subsets has varying ultimate scores, with aromatics and flavor scoring the highest possible points. Scores are then tabulated by the competition co-hosts, Jack Robertiello and Robert Plotkin.

NEW IN 2012 PACKAGING COMPETITION
Mexican spirits are known for their creativity in package design.

This competition category will award those brands which receive the highest composite scores for the following elements: Bottle design, label design, utility, innovation, overall package and general appeal.

Medals for each category

Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded to brands which qualify by meeting specific overall scores. Depending upon the final combined scores, some, but not all of the following categories may be awarded.
